Málaga born Chico Sánchez is an MC who turns to his own life, and past experiences to write and express himself. He also happens to be part of my chosen family. Over the years, since 2007, I have collaborated in several ways, from Graphic Design to Music Video Edition and Production, including some photography, always looking to bring the best of him into the assets.

Since the very first debut album "Sólo es el principio", his second album "Verdades como puños" and his latests music videos, we both have evolved and have grown side by side, reaching a great understanding and respect for each other's work.

SÓlo es el principio

Published during Summer 2011, his debut album titled "It's only the beginning" makes a statement about his starting point. Both Graphic Design and photography are done by me –clearly not a professional photographer. The album contains 9 + 1 tracks, including 3 collaborations with local performers.

It's during this period that we produce the second video collaboration, the music video for "Las cosas que están prohibidas" – Those Forbidden Things –, collaboration with Tekila, MC from Sevilla & Madrid.

Shot with 0 money, using an old camera, and my very basic Video Edition skills, the focus was to show the different environments of the performers, as well as the common link which made them create this piece.

Verdades como puños

For his second album, released on 2014, we decided to go a step further and hired a professional photographer, in order to achieve a more professional look, in line with the artist's evolution.

The album contains 9 tracks

Together with Abel

Chico Sánchez's son, Abel, was born in 2015, with a rare genetic disease which prevented him to produce his own natural defences. After months in hospitals, they were told the only solution could be a Bone Marrow Transplant. He threw himself in organizing a urban music festival, gathering a good amount of artists, in order to raise awareness for Bone Marrow Transplant, as it was not so well known at that time in Spain.

He he vented out his frustrations and emotions in his release "Sangre de mi sangre" -Blood from my own's-, as well as his hopes. We decided to use photos collected during Abel's stay in Hospital, which lasted 5 months, plus another 2 months in Great Ormond Street Hospital. I was honoured to collaborate in the production of this humble piece dedicated to his own child.

Ponte en mi piel

After the events of La Manada in Spain in 2016, Chico started working on this lyrics to denunce of the brutatlity of the actions, and the inefficience in the judicial system to punish the rapist's actions in the first place. It pleads for the wider people to put themselves under the victim's skin.

Due to the speed of the production, we used licensed photos from a Stock Image photo bank to accompany the words with them.

Toda una Vida

During COVID, Chico approached me with the need to tell his own story. He had the idea, the lyrics and the music all ready to be told to a camera. Me being in London, and him being in Málaga, we stablished a plan and "directed" him from 1800km so he could record himself in a suitable way that I could then use for editing.

The result is a beautiful piece, well shot, well lit, and which captures the story in a very respectful way.
